Tom Selleck is Upstanding Christian
I don’t recall how the topic of Jack Chick’s tracts got brought up, but when Matt (of Unfeddered Access fame) showed me the comic, Dark Dungeons, I instantly thought of the Magnum P.I. Yes, the Upstanding Christian gentleman that rallies against the heathen depravity of Dungeons and Dragons in the comic bears a striking similarity to Tom Selleck.
Separated at birth? Chick’s muse? You be the judge.

According to a couple of sources, Jack Chick does use figures from popular culture as the basis of some of this characters. He also uses co-workers and even himself (apparently the cover of “The Gay Blade” is modeled after Jack himself.)
I just discovered this webpage http://www.316now.com which has a series of films based on actual Jack Chick tracts. No Selleck, but it’s a blast.
